Sign Works is a family owned and operated custom sign business located in Jacksonville, NC. The shop is a three man operation with 56 years of combined experience.

Gene Thompson (owner) began his trade by drawing blackboard murals as a child in the 4th grade. In 1970, while attending Appalachian State University, he was given his first professional job hand painting a sign. Gene went on to become a teacher, all the while continuing to hone his skills (and supplement a teacher's income) by lettering boats, vehicles, glass store fronts, and designing wall murals and ads. Finally in 1985, Gene left teaching and opened Sign Works full time.

Eric Thompson inherited his father's creative aptitude and has been a part of Sign Works success from the beginning. He is skilled in a wide variety of media, is an expert guilder and excellent vinyl technichian.
